Review
"An exceptional bargain, this tank-aged blend of 80% Sangiovese and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon comes across like the 'poor person's' Brunello di Montalcino. It exhibits a pronounced nose of sweet berries, forest floor, fresh mushrooms, and spice. Wonderful fruit, medium to full body, surprising opulence and flesh, and a long, heady finish suggest it will last for 3-4 years." -Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Wine maker notes
"The Rosso di Montalcino D.O.C. is made from 100% Sangiovese di Montalcino harvested from the Altesino and La Velona vineyards. For two weeks the must remains in contact with the skins. When the fermentation is complete the wine is transferred to large barrels made of Slavonian oak where it will age for eight months. It takes about a year after the harvest before it can be marketed. This Rosso offers a brilliant ruby red colour with a persistent bouquet of ripe berries and forest fruit. On the palate, the wine is well balanced offering flavours of cherry, plums and soft fruit."- Winery
