Review
"Structure defines this wine. It has a great architecture of tannins, acids and oak, with a firm, dry finish. That stands it in stark relief to today's modern cult style of fruity softness, and to the wine's credit. It's Bordeaux-like, with cherry, currant, herb and cedar flavors, and should develop over the next decade. A winery to watch." - Wine Enthusiast Magazine
Wine maker notes
2005 was a very high yield year where only the people that
heavily dropped fruit succeeded in making great wine. The
consequences when the plant has more and you reduce it, is
you have very powerful grapes. The winemaker adapted to
that, and extracted quite a bit with a long cold soak and a
slow but steady fermentation. All of this is maximized by the
fact that the wines are unfined and unfiltered. But by adding
more Merlot it changed the balance completely and makes it
a more feminine and round wine.
