Although it only recently achieved formal recognition, the D.O. Montsant, part of a larger historic region, has a long tradition of producing wonderfully robust, yet elegant, wines. The winery, Cellers Can Blau has several vineyards in the hills of Montsant. Each vineyard was chosen for its particular soil and micoroclimate. The Mazuelo was planted in sandy clay, and the Syrah in chalky soils and the Garnacha on slate, know as llicorella.
The blend of these three varietals (40% Mazuelo; 40% Syrah; 20% Garnacha) with their distinct terroirs, produces a wine of great depth, color and ripe fruit flavors with a long complex finish.
| Wine maker notes |
| "The 2007 Can Blau is purple-colored with a nose ofcedar, mineral, baking spices, blueberry, and black cherry. This leads to a full-bodied wine with layers of flavor, enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years, and a pure, fruit-filled finish. It will be at its peak from 2010 to 2018."-Jay Miller Wine Advocate 90+ Points
