Wine Advocate 90 points - The dark ruby/plum-hued 2011 Zinfandel Home Ranch displays a big, briery, spicy, peppery, earthy bouquet, a supple, opulent, broad texture, surprising richness and plenty of up-front charm and seductiveness. This superb, full-bodied Zinfandel is one of the stars of the vintage. It should drink well for 3-5 years. (Dec 2013)
Wine Spectator 91 points - Dense, tightly wound and well-structured, with floral raspberry and spiced cinnamon aromas and zesty cherry, mineral and toasted herb flavors. The tannins bite down on the finish. Hands off for now. Drink now through 2021.—T.F. (Nov 13 2013)
In 1893, newlyweds Edoardo and Angela Seghesio purchased their new home in Alexander Valley. As winemaker for the most prominent winery in Sonoma County, Edoardo recognized great vineyard potential surrounding the modest home. In 1895, he planted the "Home Ranch" and began a lineage of four generations of grape growers in Sonoma County. This vineyard, in addition to producing quintessential Zinfandel, has long been the source for subsequent plantings of Seghesio Zinfandel.
